Message from The Dean

Dear Students, the tourism industry which has made remarkable progress in recent years both in Ethiopia and in the world is making its way as a competitor in the fields of science and commerce. According to World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) statistics, it is estimated that the total number of tourists in the world will double up to 1.8 billion by 2030 and 1 out of 11 employees will be employed in tourism industry. For this reason, the generation which will establish our future is expected to improve themselves by recognizing the importance of tourism industry and protecting the tourism resources for the next generations.

As communities of our institute, I am thrilled that your expertise after graduation is needed to preserve and protect our World Heritages embodies the great humanist idea that people of all cultures and faiths can unite around the conservation of places of Outstanding Universal Value.

Dear staffs and stakeholders, my sincere gratitude goes to all of you –our staffs, heritage authorities, experts, site managers, partners and the public – for your continuous support in safeguarding the world’s precious, irreplaceable and fragile cultural and natural heritage for the generations to come. We have come a long way together. Over time, the World Heritage Convention has become the most universal instrument in heritage conservation globally.
