Deliverology and Teacher Development Program Office launched as coordinator office under academic vice president office of Woldia University which encompass three independent entities: Deliverology, the Higher Diploma Program (HDP), and the English Language Improvement Program (ELIP), established in 2023 as part of the university’s academic structure. The office has undertaken various multidimensional initiatives in relation to these areas.
To empower educators and enhance teaching quality through innovative programs and effective practices.
To facilitate professional development and skill enhancement for educators and students through targeted training, language proficiency improvement, and effective public sector performance strategies.
To achieve the stated vision and mission, the office has actively engaged in a variety of initiatives:
Firstly, the Higher Diploma Program (HDP) is designed to address the pedagogical knowledge gaps among instructors. This advanced qualification aims to promote skill development, foster academic progression, enhance critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, support professional development, create networking opportunities, and endorse a culture of lifelong learning. By meeting these objectives, the Deliverology and Teacher Development Office is committed to cultivating competent professionals who are prepared to make meaningful contributions in their fields through the HDP.
Secondly, the English Language Improvement Program (ELIP) aims to develop English language skills for non-native speakers, concentrating on speaking, listening, reading, and writing proficiencies. The program is tailored to meet specific needs, such as academic or professional English. Key objectives of the ELIP include improving communication skills, boosting confidence, expanding vocabulary, enhancing grammar proficiency, promoting cultural awareness, preparing for academic or professional contexts, developing listening comprehension, fostering critical thinking and analysis, encouraging interactive learning, and offering personalized learning experiences. Through these objectives, the office seeks to elevate participants’ overall English proficiency and self-assurance in using the language.
Moreover, the Deliverology and Teacher Development Office is dedicated to addressing the everyday challenges faced by teachers by designing need-based training sessions. The office aims to achieve the following goals: identify and fulfill research-based gaps, update instructional approaches based on context, and enhance technological, pedagogical, and content-related knowledge.
Thirdly, Deliverology serves as a methodology for enhancing public sector performance and service delivery. It emphasizes setting clear goals, utilizing data to monitor progress, and ensuring accountability to achieve results effectively. In alignment with Deliverology, the office is focused on equipping fresh graduates with the necessary skills and knowledge to enter and succeed in the workforce. This includes conducting employability and job readiness training, administering a Career Development Center (CDC) to enhance career prospects, providing guidance and support through career counseling, facilitating networking and skill-building opportunities for fresh graduates via a career club, offering career navigation support through a career compass, creating an inviting environment for job opportunities through job fairs, and conducting tracer studies to evaluate the effectiveness of educational or training programs and inform policy and curriculum development.
In conclusion, as outlined above, the Deliverology and Teacher Development Program Office is currently focused on facilitating activities related to Deliverology, the Higher Diploma Program, and the English Language Improvement Program, thereby contributing to the advancement of educational quality and graduates’ employability.
