21 January 2026 (Public and International Relations executive)Woldia University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Afrika VAKFI Foundation (Afrika Vakfı), Türkiye, through a virtual signing ceremony held on 21 January 2026. The agreement establishes a collaborative framework to strengthen academic, research, and development cooperation between the two institutions.
The MoU was signed on behalf of Woldia University by Dr. Belay Mengiste, Vice President for Administration and Business Development, and on the side of Afrika VAKFI Foundation by Dr. Mehmet Köse, Chairman of the Africa Foundation (Afrika Vakfı).
The partnership focuses on joint research and policy publications, capacity building and training, fund mobilization and project implementation, academic exchange programs, and co-hosting national and international workshops. Key thematic areas of collaboration include education and cultural exchange, social and economic development, migration and regional development, and cultural heritage preservation.
This MoU marks an important step in advancing Ethiopia–Türkiye institutional and academic cooperation, promoting knowledge sharing, innovation, and sustainable development.
