Woldia University and Nyala Motors Partner to Establish Automotive Training Center

April 29, 2025 (Public & International Relations) – Woldia University and Nyala Motors have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish an automotive laboratory training center at the university and foster closer collaboration between academia and industry.

The partnership will bridge the gap between the university’s Education Training Research Institute and the automotive sector, facilitating consultancy, laboratory development, joint research and development (R&D), technology transfer, training programs, and internships/externships for students and faculty.

HE Mr. Tesfaye Daba, State Minister of Justice and Chair of the University Board, championed this initiative, underscoring the critical role of university-industry connections.

Key objectives of the MoU include:

• Creating an Automotive Laboratory Training Center at Woldia University.
• Promoting the adoption and spread of new technologies within the automotive industry.
• Expanding practical learning through internships and externships for students and teachers.
• Encouraging collaborative research in automotive technology and related engineering disciplines.
• Developing a platform within the university clusters for consultancy, training, and technology transfer to benefit the wider community.

Established in 1973, Nyala Motors is the exclusive distributor for Nissan vehicles, UD trucks, VE commercial vehicles, Unicarrier forklifts, and Macpower batteries, having begun its operations with Datsun automobiles.

Woldia University, founded in 2011, operates across three campuses and is committed to community engagement and producing impactful research through innovative education and technology transfer.

Dr. Abebe Girma, President of Woldia University, emphasized the MoU as a testament to the University Board’s strong support for strengthening ties with industry.

The President further added that since the university is an institution recovering from the devastation of war, the management board and other stakeholders should assist in facilitating such partnerships.

የወልድያ ዩኒቨርሲቲ እና ኒያላ ሞተርስ በአውቶሞቲቭ ዘርፍ በጋራ ለመስራት ተፈራረሙ

ሚያዝያ 21፣ 2017 ዓ.ም (የሕዝብና ዓለም አቀፍ ግንኙነት) – የወልድያ ዩኒቨርሲቲ እና ኒያላ ሞተርስ በዩኒቨርሲቲው የአውቶሞቲቭ ላቦራቶሪ ማሰልጠኛ ማዕከል ለመመስረት እና በዩኒቨርሲቲው እና በኢንዱስትሪው መካከል ያለውን የቅርብ ትብብር ለማሳደግ የሚያስችል የመግባቢያ ስምምነት (MoU) ተፈራርመዋል።

ይህ ስምምነት የዩኒቨርሲቲውን የትምህርት፣ ምርምር እና የቴክኖሎጅ ሽግግር አላማዎችን እውን ለማድረግ በተለይ በአውቶሞቲቭ ዘርፍ የማማከር አገልግሎት፣ የላቦራቶሪ ማሟላት፣ የጋራ ምርምር መስራት፣ የሥልጠና ፕሮግራሞች እና የተማሪዎችና መምህራን የልምድ ልውውጥ ዕድሎችን ያመቻቻል።

ክቡር አቶ ተስፋዬ ዳባ የፍትሕ ሚኒስትር ዴኤታና የዩኒቨርሲቲ ቦርድ ሰብሳቢ ይህን ተነሳሽነት በመደገፍ ዩኒቨርሲቲው  ከየኢንዱስትዎች ጋር ግንኙነቶችን እንዲፈጥር በማድረግ ወሳኝ ሚና ተጫውተዋል።

የመግባቢያ ስምምነቱ ዋና ዓላማዎች የሚከተሉትን ያካትታሉ፡

• በወልድያ ዩኒቨርሲቲ የአውቶሞቲቭ ላቦራቶሪ ማሰልጠኛ ማዕከል መፍጠር፣
• በአውቶሞቲቭ ኢንዱስትሪ ውስጥ አዳዲስ ቴክኖሎጂዎችን መቀበልን እና መስፋፋትን ማበረታታት
• ለተማሪዎች እና ለመምህራን የሥራ ልምምድ እና የልምድ ልውውጥ በማስፋት ተግባራዊ ትምህርትን ማሳደግ።
• በአውቶሞቲቭ ቴክኖሎጂ እና ተዛማጅ የምህንድስና ዘርፎች የጋራ ምርምርን ማበረታታት፣
• የአካባቢውን ማህበረሰብ ለመጥቀም በወልዲያ ዩኒቨርሲቲ ክላስተሮች ውስጥ የምክክር፣ የሥልጠና፣ የምርምርና ልማት እና የቴክኖሎጂ ሽግግር መድረክን ማዳበር የሚሉ ተግባራት ይገኙበታል።

እ.ኤ.አ በ1973 የተቋቋመው ኒያላ ሞተርስ የኒሳን ተሽከርካሪዎች፣ የዩዲ የጭነት መኪናዎች፣ የቪኢ የንግድ ተሽከርካሪዎች፣ የዩኒካሪየር ፎርክሊፍቶች እና የማክፓወር ባትሪዎች በማከፋፈል ይታወቃል። ወልድያ ዩኒቨርሲቲ እ.ኤ.አ በ2011 የተመሰረተ ሲሆን፤  በሦስት ካምፓሶች  በማህበረሰብ አገልግሎት፣ በትምህርት እና በምርምርና በቴክኖሎጂ ሽግግሮችን በማመንጨት ላይ ቁርጠኛ የሆነ ተቋም ነው።

የዩኒቨርሲቲ ፕሬዝዳንት ዶክተር አበበ ግርማ ይህ የመግባቢያ ስምምነት የዩኒቨርሲቲው ቦርድ አባላት ተቋሙ ከኢንዱስትሪዎች ጋር ያለውን ግንኙነት ለማጠናከር ያደረጉት ጠንካራ ድጋፍ ማረጋገጫ ነው በማለት አመስግነዋል። ፕሬዝደንቱ አክለውም ዩኒቨርሲቲው ከጦርነት ውድመት እያገገመ ያለ ተቋም በመሆኑ የስራ አመራር ቦርድም ሆነ ሌሎች ወዳጆች እንደነዚህ አይነት አጋርነቶችን በማመቻቸት ሊያግዙን ይገባል ብለዋል።
